Types of watermelon

Russia has its own varieties, which are most often seen in stores: Astrakhan, Kholodok and Bykovsky. They are usually round and slightly elongated. The stripes can be both clear and merging with the whole color. The flesh is red or crimson. But the thickness of the skin and the size of the seeds depends on the variety.

Of course, there are many other varieties as well. In the market, you can find watermelons with white skin or marbled pattern.

If you want to find something more exotic, then in Russia it will be more difficult. However, in some cities you can, for example, meet black Japanese watermelons. The only problem is that such a berry is considered the most expensive variety of watermelon in the world. It’s all about small production and exotic variety.

By the way, do not forget that the colors of the pulp differ depending on the variety of watermelon. Sometimes the flesh can be yellow, white and orange. In Russia, for example, you can often find watermelons with yellow flesh. If you took such an unusual specimen, you should definitely not be surprised.
