This easy way will help you fall asleep quickly. Lying down and tossing and turning is very unpleasant. That’s why we are always looking for new ways to fall asleep as quickly as possible. Soldiers use this trick to fall asleep in two minutes.
This technique has been known in the US Army for many years, and is effective for 96% of soldiers. It may take some time to master, but it’s worth a try.
The first part of this method involves a body scan. Relax all the muscles in the body one at a time. First relax the facial muscles: such as the forehead, eye area, chin and tongue. Then relax your shoulders. Concentrate on your right arm and relax your upper arm muscles: forearm and hand. Repeat with the left hand. Take a deep breath to relax your chest. Then relax the muscles in both legs. The method should be applied to the whole body from top to bottom. First relax the thighs, then the knees, then the shins and finally the feet.
It’s time for a presentation or visualisation as all the muscles are relaxed. Close your eyes and imagine one of the following situations (choose the most impressive one):
You are lying in a black hammock in a completely dark room. You are lying on your back and the canoe is floating on the water. The water is calm and the sky above you is bright blue. I can’t see any clouds. Repeat the words ‘don’t think, don’t think, don’t think’ in your head for 10 seconds.
Don’t give up if it doesn’t work right away. It can take up to 6 weeks to master this trick, but it will get easier after that, so don’t stop halfway through. You can also try other visualisations that are pleasing to you. Imagine yourself on a sunny day among green meadows and quiet beaches, where the waves beat gently on the ground. Have a nice dream!
